Bimla Buti Vigyan Vidushi Project (BBVVP)
Thanks to a generous endowment from the Buti Foundation, Vigyan Vidushi (Physics) supports three short-term projects at TIFR or any of its national centres every year. Typically of three months duration, these projects are available only for the students who have attended the Vigyan Vidushi (Physics) camp in that year. The students are provided a monthly stipend to cover their travel and accommodation costs. Further, a contingency grant is available to cover other expenses. At the successful conclusion of the project, the student receives a certificate.
No separate application is necessary for the Bimla Buti Vigyan Vidushi Project. Selections are made by the Academic Committee after the conclusion of the Vigyan Vidushi (Physics) camp.
Professor Bimla Buti
The Buti Foundation was founded in 2003 by Professor Bimla Buti, an acclaimed plasma physicist. Promotion of women’s education is among one of the foremost goals of the foundation. Vigyan Vidushi (Physics) is proud and grateful to be associated with the rich legacy of Professor Buti.
